Benevolence Sunday
February 19th
As an expression of thanksgiving to God for His great blessings, as evidenced in part through the people of ACC continuing to meet and exceed the budgeted giving, the elders and staff have set aside February 19, 2012 as "Benevolence Sunday."
Galatians 6:10 says, "So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith."
We recognize that while many have been enabled by God's grace to give liberally of their finances, there are others within our fellowship who have been struggling to meet financial obligations, whether for daily living expenses, medical bills, or other needs. This special Sunday is being set aside to respond to the imperative of Galatians 6:10 by assisting those among us who need financial support at this time.
On Benevolence Sunday only, your offerings designated for the General Fund will be added to the Benevolence Fund. All other giving such as Missions, BFL, or other designations will go to the proper designated fund. The General Funds received on Benevolence Sunday will be used to meet the immediate financial needs of people primarily within our church.
Attendees are encouraged to submit applications for assistance if you are experiencing need or you may submit an application for someone whom you know within our congregation who is experiencing immediate financial need. Applications for others outside the ACC family may also be submitted, however, Alderwood attendees will be given priority. IRS regulations prohibit the specific designation of individuals on your check so please use the application process to suggest help for individuals. Applications are available at the Life Groups Counter in the lobby and may be submitted to the church office.
Designated members of the Board of Elders will be tasked with reviewing the applications and disbursing the funds. |
