Sermon Outline November 4, 2001 "Can
God Be Trusted"
|
|
Deuteronomy 7:9 (and also Jeremiah 31:35-57) 1. "Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; 2. "... He is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love ..." 3.
"... to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His
commands." |
|
How
God is faithful:
1. Keeps us guilt-free. (1 Thessalonians 5:23,24) 2. Protects us through trials. (1 Corinthians 10:13) 3. Constantly forgives and cleanses us. (1 John 1:9) 4. Provides for us. (1 Timothy 6:17) 5. Is always with us. (Hebrews 13:5,6) 6.
Comforts us. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) |
|
Misunderstandings
of God's faithfulness that can lead us to hold out on trust:
1. Doesn't mean God will do everything we ask. 2. Doesn't mean it is not there if we don't see it. 3. Doesn't mean we will always have it easy or comfortable. 4.
Doesn't mean we can or need to understand everything. |
|
Our
response to God's faithfulness:
1. Childlike trust in God and His provision. (Psalm 37:3-6) 2. Natural witness of God's faithfulness. (Psalm 89:1,2) 3.
Praise of God's faithfulness in worship. (Psalm 92:1-3) |
